Me and magic events, it is still a bit of a drama for me that prefers one on one-events, but if Army Of Lovers headlining an event just 2,5 hours travelling (not that weekend as there was some work with the train rails) from me away… sorry, but I have to get through it!
When I arrived, the centre looks like a regular Sunday. The church was open (and full, so there were the most belgiums hiding?) and some people walking in the street to have a breakfast or walking with the dog.
After awhile I hear the soundcheck between some beautiful buildings and yes there was really happening something. After a backing vocalist just sing a bit, Sarah Bettens decorate the stage with her charisma. Honesty I was surprised! She is really something special and the show was not even started yet.
Then I noticed a familair face. I could not remember from what, but one hour later, when the guy put a wig on, I realised it was that fabulous Lady Gaga-act Lola McQueen.
I did not expect that My Army Of Lovers gave me a soundcheck show, but some in the crowd where wondering “is this the girl from Army Of Lovers”. Ofcourse as a huge fan, I knew it was NOT Dominika Peczynski, but a stand-in? (It was not, it was Miss Transgender 2017 Sacha Ryan).
Around 1.30 PM JOE fm-presenter Nathalie Delporte and MENT TV-personality Dimitri Vantomme starts the show with their friendly attitude.
Drag Queens United with leader BangBang LaDesh gave kicks off with some highlights (I have nothing with dragacts, but if I like something, than it is really good, trust me). First of all Sacha Ryan… I keep my eyes on her. Wow, what a great masterpiece of plastic surgery! She did a song “Booty” by Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea from 2014. Check Jennifer, she is really perfect in the Official Video:
This is what Sacha made out of the track:
Nurse Miss Stephany arrived on stage and impressed with her act full of water injections. At the end of the act she make the crowd scared by making a move with the basket that she will throw it in the audience, than she walked away… and as a huge wet surprise smacked all the water in MY face (and I bet I am the only one with a water allergy in the corner)! It is not recorded, but I love this sense of humor!
2 years ago, I was at Antwerp Pride to see Fabio Ponente (2 Fabiola) and saw someone that looks like Lady Gaga. The moves, the face… and for a second time impressive Lola McQueen.
What I did not “hear” in 2015, was the story that Lola is “Deaf”. How can someone be the best one of all the dragacts in this 45 minutes dragshow?
Today the man behind the girl Lex Decrans explains that he is 70 per cent deaf left and 80 per cent right and that is enough to train himself to become something to be VERY proud of! Lady Gaga have really missed something unique!
In 2015 Nic Hopstaken did a great Madonna-act and still is this “Girl Gone Wild”. Sometimes you really think that Madonna is performing.
But I must admit, my weakness for mistakes makes me say that the best part of the show was that one of the four dancers made a mistake with a move and get a struggle with a microphone standard.
Unique talent Sven Ratzke got some “Christmas” songs for us as he said like a jazzy “Billy Jean” (Michael Jackson), but what he do best is showing he is a “Starman” (David Bowie).
The Coming Out Band entertained the audience with things like a preview of the Musical “Brotherhood”.
One of the big names get on stage. I enjoyed every song of Liliane Saint Pierre. Just a perfect performer. She sings good, makes your head traveling to paradise, but… Liliane did not believed in her act after all those years. She is battling with her nerves and blame the Sound Engineering Technician. I was seriously worried! That woman got everything! Does they called this a “Drama Queen”? She really needs some “Soldiers Of Love”
to make her believing in herself!
Ludoviq follows and warm the audience up with standing IN the audience. Lots of people likes his Motown sound like his “Out Of Love”.
Mister Gay Belgium 2017 Jaimie Deblieck get on stage to explain what this model competition is all about. People could meet the guy for some talking next to the main stage.
Even it was not a hot summer Sunday, Belle Perez gave the event the summer touch with her “Hello World” and lots of latin songs. All we missed was a tropical cocktail and a beach. She was gaving the crowd positivity with capital P.
In case you think the show is non-stop on stage, forget it! A brown little girl starts her dancing at the first row with ubercute moves. Huh? Some minutes later Nathalie Delporte explains… this part of the ground was filled with family of Sarah Bettens, which amazed at the end of her performance the most with K’s Choice biggest hit “Not An Addict”.
Stan van Samang was the mystery guest, revealed one week before the event took place at Grote Markt in Antwerp. He sang a duet with Sarah Bettens and really rocks with his Jannes-cover “Een Ster”.
Finally the headliners from Stockholm And Tel Aviv (Jean-Pierre Barda has moved last year) arrived. Army Of Lovers are the best of the best. People around me where surprised that they looks so good and that they still performing like in the nineties. Eeuh ofcouse Alexander Bard, Jean-Pierre Barda and Dominika Peczynski got the MAGIC forever!
After Dominika gaves Alexander Bard a blow job, Alexander plays keyboards with a table and Jean-Pierre shows that interval act Trinxx and Sven Ratze were not the only men who wears high heels the five hour event was coming to an end and the crowd was satisfied that this 10 years anniversary was a true celebration of LOVE.
