For several years Dennis Alexis Hellström aka Bimbo Boy has been noticed by people who likes Swedish Pop or make Swedish Poprecords. Dennis write about it and sang several songs as well. Now he has a new project called Eurotix and released in 2013 their debut EP “I Plead Insanity” with a cover of the Army Of Lovers-song “Supernatural”.
Now the band are the first one who shared their MAGIC MUSIC MOMENTS with us.
YOU HAVE SEVERAL SOLO-SINGLES RELEASED AND NOW STARTING A BAND, HOW COME?
I’ve been friends with Larry Forsberg for some time now, and one day he called me up, asking if I’d like to sing in his new synthpop project. It would just be him and me, doing the type of music we both love: 80’s synthpop and eurodisco, so I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. Also, I felt it was time for my other project Bimbo Boy to rest. I wanted to try something different, even if the style of Eurotix isn’t so different from what I did with Bimbo Boy
AFTER YOUR DEBUT SINGLE LAST YEAR “I PLEAD INSANITY” IS THERE ANYTHING NEW COMING UP?
Yes, we’re releasing a brand new EP in a couple of weeks called ”Life As It Slips Away”. It’s our most italo disco-ish song yet and we’ve even shot a video for it. The EP will also include three exclusive B-sides. Our debut album ”The Secret” is coming out this spring. We’re so excited to share the new stuff with our listeners!
HAVE YOU ALREADY PERFORMED WITH THE BAND OR ARE THERE ANY PLANS?
No, we decided right from the start that we won’t be doing any live performances. None of us like it that much. I’ve done a couple of gigs before but I’m quite shy in a way, so I’ve never felt that comfortable on stage. My nerves make it too difficult for me. I prefer working in the studio and releasing music online. I think it’s important to find a way to work with music that suits you the best. Not all of us are made for the stage.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION FOR YOUR MUSIC? DO YOU GOT ANY NAMES?
Me and Larry both like Pet Shop Boys and Erasure. But we also have our own inspirations. I tend to prefer Hi-NRG, italo disco and euro disco, while Larry is more into early 80’s synthpop. But we meet halfway.
WHICH ARTIST/GROUP ADMIRE YOU THE MOST?
I listen to a lot of different artists, but some of my idols are Agnetha Fältskog, Kim Wilde, Kylie Minogue, Samantha Fox, Sandra, Madonna, Bananarama and Lili & Susie. Can you tell I’m a sucker for 80’s disco-pop?
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSES ON YOUR BAND SO FAR?
We’ve received positive feedback online from all over the world, but most of our listeners seem to come from the US, UK, Germany, Russia, Australia and Sweden of course. In this digital age, distance is not an issue!
WHAT DID YOU EXPECT WHAT EUROTIX WILL BRINGS YOU IN THE FUTURE?
We hope to continue making the kind of music we like. Even if no one else listened to it, we’d probably keep doing it anyway ha ha! We’re doing it for the love of music, and if others like it too, that’s just a big bonus.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG OF THE MOMENT?
I have many, but right now I’m listening to Lili & Susie’s comeback single “Would You Be Mine” all the time. It’s really catchy!
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MAGIC MUSIC MOMENT EVER?
Oh there are so many. I think I have to say working on the Eurotix album, it has been a lot of fun and I’m so proud to release it. Working with Larry is a blast!
