Yesterday it was finally the moment that we remember the legendary R&B singer Luther Vandross. He is now the official star of the famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame!
Originally it was the news on June 22, 2012 that he will be one of the 2013 new stars, so some delay, but finally he reached the “hol(l)y ground” anyway.
According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce “Luther ‘s unparalleled voice and forever romantic tunes such as, ‘Never Too Much,’ ‘Power Of Love,’ ‘Here And Now,’ ‘House Is Not A Home,’ ‘So Amazing’ and ‘Dance With My Father’ are known the world over,” stated Leron Gubler, President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and emcee of the ceremonies. “We are honored to hold this dedication for a very special performer whose music will resonate for all time.”
Vandross’ star was presented to his niece, Seveda Williams, and friend Alfonso “Fonzi” Thornton. Fans of Luther where able to stream the ceremony at http://www.walkoffame.com, that took place outside Capitol Records in Los Angeles.
His thirteenth and final studio album Dance With My Father earned him four Grammy awards.
Vandross passed away at the age of 51 due to a heart attack.
